And they loved every minute of it

This weekend saw our new U7's take to the pitch in a "proper" league match for the first time. The excitement in training the last couple of weeks all mounted to this. It was fantastic to watch all the hardwork they've put in to training now pay off. This age group has been going from strength to strength over the last few months. We have officially three teams running, but due to high demand, this is one of the age groups we are now looking to expand in to a fourth team.

We spoke to each of the team managers to find out how they got on in their first game. Please read on to find out.

Rams
The match started off really tight with neither side giving anything away. After half time the play swung our way and then back to Corsham towards the end. Coach Guy Kingston said, "every boy played their hearts out and left nothing on the pitch". There was great sportsmanship throughout with everybody celebrating goals from both teams and also acknowledging contributions throughout the game. Corsham were fantastic and a real credit to their club. The coaches and spectators were brilliant, everybody was really positive with lots of encouragement. Special mention for Max, Matthew and Toby who made some fantastic saves in goal. Down the other end, Freddie had a smashing debut with a hat trick.

Bulls
The players were fantastic, all worked their socks off and were unlucky to come way with more. We made an excellent start to the game. It was a great learning experience for all our players and they all said they loved it at the end. Coach Rhys Schell said, "it was fantastic to see both Noah and Harry score the first ever goals in a match".

Stallions
Coach Mark Thompson said "regardless of the score, the kids really enjoyed themselves and that’s all that matters. Their enthusiasm was fantastic, each and every one of them grew as the game went on and they all did themselves proud". We had some stand out performances from Mitchell who scored his first goal and Jackson who made some cracking saves in the penalty shoot out. Our team also included two girls Aaliyah and Connie who got stuck just as much as the boys. Mark can’t wait for the next training session or for next weeks game as are the children.

Special Thanks
The U7's have just recently attraced a new sponsor; Cadence Events. Thanks to them, we will be kitting out the whole age group in brand new Nike branded kits. Stay tuned for pictures when they're all looking so smart.
