Competitive but still lots of fun and smiles

Today was the day our U9's all took to the pitch in their first ever competitive Cup match. The conditions were perfect and the stage was set, both home and away for two of our U9 teams, the Eagles and Tigers. All the players new this was a slightly more special occasion than normal, but handled it impressively. Even though this was a competitive match, all the children maintained the core value of having fun playing football.

The Eagles
Our mixed Eagles team were home to Ferndale Rodbourne, who are normally in a division above. This didn't phase our players one bit. They all stood strong and really held their own. Coach Lee said, " the Eagles were fantastic today showing some good creativity and their passing was outstanding."

This team is going from strength to strength each week and definitely heading in the right direction. With a few finished not going their way, they were unlucky not to have come away with a win.

Result: BC Eagles 0-2 Ferndale Rodbourne

The Tigers
Away to an unbeaten and very strong Hungerford team, our team was reduced to just 7 players with two coming down with a bug last minute. With no subs and a physically strong team, the Tigers were going to have to dig deep for this one.

After going 1-0 down in the first quarter, it would have been easy to let their heads drop. But that was the last thing on their minds as we scored a screaming free kick (top bins). Back level and starting to believe in themselves, the game went on with both teams battling hard. The Tigers showed that little extra hunger for the ball and pulled out a fantastic win. All the boys celebrated by emptying the water bottles of their coach, Tom.
