Bishops Cannings Football Club has been named
Wiltshire FA Club of the Year, a truly prestigious award that recognises the
strength, spirit and community value of grassroots football across the county.

For Bishops Cannings FC, this is more than an award. It is recognition for a local
club built by local people, with players, coaches, volunteers, parents, sponsors
and supporters all playing their part. From training nights to the quiet work
behind the scenes, the award reflects the effort that keeps grassroots football
alive around Devizes.

The club has continued to grow while staying close to what matters: giving
people a place to play, coach, volunteer, learn and belong. Its “Football for All”
philosophy creates a welcoming environment where different ages and abilities
can enjoy the game and feel part of something local.

Gary Wooton, Club Chairperson, said:
“We are incredibly proud to receive this award. It means a huge amount because
it recognises the hard work and commitment of everyone connected with
Bishops Cannings FC. A grassroots club succeeds because people give their time,
turn up when needed, support each other and believe the club is worth building.
That is what this award represents.”
As the club celebrates, it is also looking ahead. Bishops Cannings FC is open to
anyone who wants to play, coach, support events, fundraise or help with the
behind the scenes jobs every good community club relies on.
No experience is needed for many volunteer roles. What matters is a willingness
to help and a belief that local football is worth supporting. The club would be
pleased to hear from parents, former players, young people and anyone who
wants to contribute in a practical way.

Phil Hendy, Club Secretary, said: “Football for All is more than a slogan for us. It
is the reason the club exists. This award belongs to everyone who has helped
make Bishops Cannings FC what it is today, and we would love to welcome more
people from the local area into the club.”
