Friendlies don't matter, really?
This was a bit of a strange game. We went into it with some good confidence; however, we knew it would be tough as results weren't going our way. But we felt this was a team more at our level!
We started very slowly conceding two early goals from free kick and a corner - our set piece weakness exposed again!
However, we never stopped! And in fact went of a bit of a purge ourselves. Brad Abrey set the ball rolling with a great goal, outmuscling their centre half and taking a great finish to pull one back for us.
Robbie Johnson then showed some of his class beating the defender and slotting the ball underneath the keeper to make it 2-2. The comeback most definitely was on! And so it proved with a long range throw in, Will Musgrove at the front posting turning in a great header. 3-2 up and things were looking good.
Unforturnately this flurry was only brief as Stratton started to play again and quickly got their equaliser. With players energy levels dropping and a lot of enforced rotation the goals kept coming. It was 6-3 at half time. Even then the manager was confident we could at leasts go and win the second half. It was not to be as we battled hard, but mostly defensively, conceding another 6 in the 2nd half.
Positives in that we did create and convert some of our chances, we never gave up and that we learn lots about what to work on.
